Per la seconda puntata della nostra nuova serie di mixtape, ci concentriamo su Irreversible Entanglements, uno dei gruppi più significativi e influenti sulla scena della nuova musica creativa, formato da Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother) alla voce, Keir Neuringer al sassofono, Aquiles Navarro alla tromba, Luke Stewart al basso e Tcheser Holmes alla batteria.
Nella musica del gruppo convivono la tradizione del jazz anni ’60 e ’70 e le correnti più innovative della Black Music contemporanea – tra spoken word, free jazz, elettronica e hip-hop sperimentale – proposte con un’energia travolgente, che coniuga la passione per il groove alle suggestioni cosmiche dell’afrofuturismo.
In questo mixtape, curato da Letizia Kasala, ascolteremo brani tratti dalla loro ormai ricca discografia, pubblicata in questi anni dall’eccellente label International Anthem, ma anche brani tratti dai progetti solisti di Moor Mother e dalle collaborazioni di altri membri del gruppo, come gli ottimi dischi incisi da Luke Stewart insieme a James Brandon Lewis.
